Overview:

These are a popular and hard-to-find dwelling. It is an original wooden house, built in solid oak, some 100 or so years ago. It was built in another location, we don't know where, but it was demounted, transported, renovated in pieces and rebuilt on a modern raised concrete foundation where it remains to this day. The raised base keeps the whole thing up and away from the damp ground allowing any repairs and upgrades it received during the re-build so that everything is in excellent shape. Coming from a time when oak was cheaper than brick and cement (isn't that unbelievable these days?), time has come full-circle as the old house now sports good Eco credentials as well as possessing very good insulation properties.
The solid base does protect the structure but at the price of a basement. This means it was built as a house for people - not for farm or vineyard work, it's sensible layout shows how the needs of residents figured high in the design.

Fuka is a hamlet with a huge lake (see pics) which sits in the local parish of nearby Cugovec where some amenities, a school and shops are available. All around this property is a mix of farm fields and protected forested land. It is not overlooked by anyone, neither a close neighbour nor distant hill top resident. The city of Vrbovec is about 15 mins away by road, the capital of Zagreb is less than an hour away, its airport is about a 40 minute drive.
